Darwin Day of FMVZ USP

Darwin Day is an annual event held in several countries to mark the birth date of the English naturalist Charles Darwin (Feb12th, 1809) and to promote science and scientific rationalism.
On Feb 21st, 2018, the 1st Darwin Day of FMVZ USP took place with the lectures:
  • Biography of Charles R. Darwin - Professor Dr. Maria Isabel Pinto Ferreira Landim Zoology Museum USP
  • Fritz Müller, Darwin's partner in Brazil - Professor Dr. Stefano Hagen FMVZ USP
  • Love to Science: the cognitive reach of Darwin's theory - Professor Dr. José Eli da Veiga Institute of Energy and Environment of USP

For the 2nd Darwin Day in 2019, the program is in preparation to continue highlighting this important event, which will mark the 160th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of Species (On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life, Charles Robert Darwin, 1859).
