Laboratory of Viral Zoonoses

In the Laboratory of Viral Zoonoses/Rabies Laboratory, our line of research is the development of antiviral approaches against the rabies virus with a view to treating rabies in humans. To this end, we use in silico, in vitro and in vivo approaches both to design new drugs and to reposition medicines.

The laboratory is also part of MAPA's and the Ministry of Health's Network of Rabies Diagnostic Laboratories for the diagnosis and gene typing of rabies viruses in suspect samples, as well as providing training in the area and providing practical classes for undergraduate students.
