Veterinary Seroepidemiology Laboratory
The Veterinary Seroepidemiology Laboratory (LABSEV) of the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the Faculty of Animal Science and Food Engineering (FZEA) of the University of São Paulo (USP) aims to support teaching, research and extension activities at the university, as well as forming partnerships with other interested institutions. It carries out research mainly in the area of immunodiagnosis of infectious diseases of domestic and wild animals, with the development, improvement and evaluation of serological assays. The laboratory also carries out molecular and microbiological procedures for the diagnosis of various bacterial and viral diseases in domestic and wild animals. It is thus dedicated to developing laboratory tools used in epidemiological studies, for pathogenesis studies and approaches to infection control and prevention. Since 2014, she has also been working on research related to the health of aquatic mammals, with a special focus on bacterial zoonoses (especially brucellosis) and morbillivirus infections.
